The Canmore Miners’ Union Hall has played an integral role in Canmore's community for over 100 years, serving as a venue for rent for weddings, meetings, social events, fundraisers, reunions, theater and music productions. The hall is part of Canmore’s heritage and is one of the few remaining historical buildings that dates back to Alberta's earliest coal mining years.

It is a Celtic word meaning “Big Head” and was titled in honor of King Malcolm III of Canmore who in 1057, killed Macbeth in a fight to regain control over the Scottish throne.

The Town of Canmore bought the Union Hall in 1994 and since then, the building has seen interior renovations, including a $90,000 kitchen renovation in 2006 completed in 30 days with all costs covered by grants, donations and volunteer labor. 👩‍
